SCH Meeting – March 17, 2016

The Society for Calligraphy & Handwriting’s (SCH) next meeting is on Thursday, March 17th, at 7pm.  It will be held at First Presbyterian Church of Bellevue in the Upper Campus in room 105. Please view our meetings page for the address and directions.

Henri Wilson will be presenting monoline Akim lettering. Please bring a monoline pen, a few sheets of bond paper, pencil, ruler and a wide parallel pen or felt marker. The supply fee is $1.00.

SCH Meeting – February 18, 2016

The Society for Calligraphy & Handwriting’s (SCH) next meeting is on Thursday, February 18th, at 7pm.  It will be held at First Presbyterian Church of Bellevue in the Upper Campus in room 105. Please view our meetings page for the address and directions.

Nancy Anderson will lead this month’s meeting teaching us the basics of drawing. She will cover how to draw simple shapes that can create a complex image, how to shade and how to apply the seven laws of perspective.

Please bring the following supplies: #2, 2B or HP pencil, a 4B, 6B or 8B pencil, white block eraser, kneaded eraser, tortillion (blending stump), sketch paper/book. There will be some items to borrow if you don’t have them. The supply fee is $3.00.

SCH Meeting – January 15, 2015

The Society for Calligraphy & Handwriting’s (SCH) next meeting is Thursday, January 15th, at 7pm. It will be held at First Presbyterian Church of Bellevue in room S-223. Please view our meetings page for the address and directions.

Robin Gebhart will be presenting Textural Writing, an easy, experimental way to create textural writing for use in journaling, collage or expressive artwork.  She will teach several different ways to create texture using simple tools and techniques.

Robin will provide a handout of techniques and show us how to make a journal to take home for continued practicing and experimenting. There will be a $3.00 supply fee. (Also, enjoy participating in an optional raffle for $2.00.)

Please bring:

  • ½  sheet of Arches Text Wove/Velin, 20” X 25.5” (Robin will have some to sell at $2.50 per ½ sheet)
  • Pencils, colored pencils, watercolor pencils
  • ½ ” – 2” flat brushes or whatever larger brushed you have for applying washes
  • Micron pen or other permanent markers
  • Pointed brush and/or flat brush-a color brush would be fine
  • Pointed pen or broad edge dip pen and/or parallel pen—whatever you like to write with

SCH Workshop: Not Your Mother’s Journal, A Workshop with Kay Lewis

Join The Society for Calligraphy & Handwriting (SCH) for a fun workshop entitled “Not Your Mother’s Journal, A Workshop with Kay Lewis” on November 10th, 2012 from 9:30am to 4:30pm in Renton, WA.

In this workshop you will learn a variety of pop-up techniques that bring journal pages alive; slides, multi-layered page presentations, and cutaways that will make your life jump off the page; inserts, pockets, and inclusions will keep your memories fresh.
