Welcome to The Society for Calligraphy & Handwriting (SCH). SCH is located in the Greater Seattle, Washington metropolitan area, meeting mainly on the Eastside of Lake Washington in Bellevue.

SCH holds meetings and workshops throughout the year, focusing on calligraphy and related art forms. The meetings and workshops provide an enthusiastic exchange in the form of lectures, demonstrations, hands-on instruction or slide presentations.

SCH Meeting – March 19, 2015

The Society for Calligraphy & Handwriting’s (SCH) next meeting is Thursday, March 19th, at 7pm. It will be held at First Presbyterian Church of Bellevue in room UC-105. Please view our meetings page for the address and directions.

Kathy Barker will be presenting “Dress Up Your Italic with Flourishes”. Enjoy a historical review of Chancery Italic script complete with a set of exemplars to use in practicing this elegant hand. Then, you will have an opportunity to play with flourished strokes to embellish your Italic letterforms. Insights into how and when to use flourishes will also be given.

Please bring a medium tip calligraphy marker (2.5 would be best) and a drawing pencil (4B or 2B). Kathy will provide paper.

Enjoy participating in an optional raffle for $2.00. We welcome visitors who are interested in learning more about SCH. We look forward to seeing you there!
