On March 11, 2017 the Society for Calligraphy & Handwriting (SCH) will be sponsoring the workshop, “Chinese Brush Lettering with Wing K. Leong” in Renton, WA.

Wing K. Leong graduated from the New Asia College, The Chinese University of Hong Kong with a Bachelors Degree in Fine Art. In 1962, he immigrated to the United States with his family. He received calligraphy instruction from Lloyd Reynolds and collaborated with many artist on book projects, exhibitions, and artworks throughout the United States for more than 40 years.

Mr. Leong operated the Chinese Art Studio and Gallery in Portland, Oregon for 36 years before retiring. He showcased his talent in painting and calligraphy by authoring two books, Chinese Painting Step by Step and How to Paint Bamboo and taught in numerous colleges in the Pacific Northwest. His lively brushwork can be found on everything from pottery, textiles and even furniture. Some of his artwork is now available as limited edition Giclee prints. He is a living master in the art of calligraphy and brush painting.

In this workshop, students will learn the basics of Chinese Sumi painting on rice paper with watercolors, through demonstration and hands on practice. Mr. Leong will teach a variety of subjects: bamboo, botanicals, animals, as time allows.
